Tinnitus and blocked ears, not necessarily linked but 2 problems I have.

I have had tinnitus for about 5-6 years. Lately it has got much worse and my right ear is very very loud. I didn't used to notice it when there was other noise around and only when I went to bed. Now I can hear it all the time and it is driving me up the wall. The same ear also feels pretty blocked. If I lay on it at night, when I turn the ear is completely blocked to the point where I can't really hear out of it. It pops after a while but still feels blocked. This has been going on for a good few days now. I have also noticed the pulsating tinnitus in my left ear is more frequent too and has been for a good few months.

Is there anything anyone has tried that helps? I swear sometimes if I thought cutting my ears off would help, I would do it!

Bump!!!

Otherwise I am going to hack my ears off, which I know would make no difference as the noise is in my head anyway.

I have also suffered from this recently the DR explained the ear is full of cataagh, so by putting your head over a basin of hot water with a decongestant will help.
It does take a long time to clear and in the meantime life is miserable you have my sympathy, chin up

Sorry if this sounds a bit obvious, but could you have a build up of ear wax? That can cause tinnitus and the blocked-up feeling, also a weird gurgling sensation that is very unnerving if you don't know what it is...

Could be ear wax I suppose, there must be a lot of it as its not 'popping' at all anymore. This hasn't caused the tinnitus though. I had that years ago, it has just made it a hell of a lot worse to the point that I can hear it over everything whereas before I could only hear it if it was completely quiet. I know that they won't syringe my ears either as I have tinnitus.
