I get a temperature every day. What could be causing this?

Over the last few years I have often noticed that I feel achey/mildly fluey quite often. I just thought it was due to tiredness, or fighting off a cold, or being premenstrual. I took paracetemol if I felt really bad.

I have felt like it more and more often lately and finally started taking my temperature. It has been OK in the morning, but rising towards the evening. Today it is 38.2. This is fairly standard.

I have had campylobacter and an appendix operation in the last month. I have just finished a course of antibiotics, so I don't think I have an infection. This fluey feeling predates all of it, but it is getting worse.

I am going to the doctor next Monday, but in the meantime, any ideas? It doesn't help that I have health anxiety at the best of times.

well, since posting the above I have come down with another bout of vomiting and abdominal pain and diarrhoea.

It can't be campylobacter back again, surely? That is what the antibiotic was supposed to fix.

I am a bloody wreck Sad and now I think I have got Crohn's disease and the campylobacter was a red herring. I thought it was strange to get repeated episodes of food poisoning but the doctor said I was harboring it Confused

It is all so confusing. Don't know how I will expain it to a doctor without sounding like a complete idiot.

I'm afraid campylobacter knocked me back for a long time. It set off post infective ibs which was very debilitating. Well worth going back to your gp and if it doesnt settle soon ask to see a gastro.

Hope it does settle for you quickly though. nasty stuff.

Post infective ibs? Could you tell me what that was like?

I am getting really upset now Sad

don't worry - I really feel for you. I used to get bad cramps and sharp pains. Needed the loo several times aday very urgently. Lost a lot of weight and generally felt unwell. In the end a combination of low level tricyclic antidepressants, immodium, antispasmodics and most importantly lots of rest and no stress (because the more I worried about urgently needing the loo, the worse it got)
consultant took it very seriously and was not at all dismissive.

I tend to be ok for a while, and then have another bout of illness. Apart from the fever that is Confused

Thank you - I do feel relieved that it might still be a result of the campylobacter and not something more sinister.

Glad you are ok now Smile

I'm utterly fine now!

might be worth talking to your gp, perhaps the antibios didnt clear out the campy properly and you might still be fighting it off?
