Irregular periods

I used to have a really regular 28 day cycle before I got pg. Ds is now 9mo and I was on cerazette from when he was 6 weeks old until 3 months ago (stopped taking it because it killed my sex drive). I had a period in january then one 7 weeks ago but nothing since. I've been feeling pre-menstrual (irritable, crampy etc) for the last 2 weeks but no period Confused. Has anyone else experienced this? How long before I'm back to normal? I'm still breastfeeding and intend to continue for a while and I'm definitely not pregnant!

I have always had irregular periods, but I have PCOS. The symptoms definitely got worse after dd2 was born 5 years ago -much more erratic periods, with PMT dragging on for weeks.

It doesn't mean you have PCOS, of course, but it might be worth a visit to the GP. Sometimes stress and tiredness can play havoc with your cycle.

Thanks siblingrivalry. I did consider pcos but I have no other symptoms. Can it just develop suddenly like that? I'm a bit worried because I had no checkup after ds was born, everyone I know with dcs had their tummy/uterus felt by a mw or gp so I'm concerned that there may be a problem thats not been picked up on

My PCOS wasn't diagnosed properly until last year -the symptoms just started to appear randomly. I think you can have it without symptoms, though -I did, for years.

I think a visit to the GP will set your mind at rest. Otherwise, the stress and worry might mess up your cycle more and then it's a vicious circle. It's more likely to be your body readjusting after your baby's birth and the pill. Plus you are breastfeeding, so your hormones will be all over the place.
Good luck, and try not to worry. x

Thanks I'm sure its just paranoia and hormones! I'll make an appointment with my gp if no period in a few weeks
