Everything was fine at work, drove home, opened the door and everyone sounded as if they were talking like robots or through a voice changer. It's horrible. I can hear myself sound like I'm a dalek too. There's no pain or discomfort, I haven't got a cold or anything so what's going on? Any ideas?

This Robot thing is happening for me as well and I’m only 15, it went away a few days ago but now all of the sudden is back, I have no idea if it going to go away again, I’m very scared I’m going to go deaf as I’m a singer

DPOXO · 24/01/2021 21:31

It sounds like Eustachian tube dysfunction to me.

DahianaCr · 31/07/2021 05:37

Anyone got better from the robotic voice?, I’m having the same problem with my right ear, when I am hearing with both ears it is kind of normal, but when answering the phone, I can tell the difference. I went to the doctor today and I felt like I was getting crazy, “saying the doctor that I hear like a robot” 😭😭😭 PLEASE HELP ME!!!
It is a relief knowing that I’m not he only one, thank you for sharing!!! :)

I've been having the same issue, everybody sounds like they are talking with their noses pinched all of the sudden. Like someone turned up the speed on the record player a couple of notches. I've had many medical issues lately, like blood clot and high blood pressure, anyone taking blood thinners or high blood pressure medicine? That's the only change I've made and now I hear people different, and see lights flash out the corner of my eyes

2 years ago, I had gone swimming and my ear was never the same. It was squelchy but not roboty. 2 years after that the robot thing happened. It lasted a couple of months then disappeared. I couldn't find any cure or info online at all. I'm a musician so I was worried. I think it is probably associated with the eustachian tube. Thank God it went away! Hopefully, yours will too.

Hi all 👋,
mine is definitely being caused from something different from all of you however the symptoms are similar. A bit of history . I’m 43M I’ve suffered with chronic ear infections since I was small ,acute ear infections rushed to hospital in severe pain! They persisted thru out my life. Also had my tonsils removed as a teen . As I got older the pain subsided and instead felt fullness in my ear felt plugged ! Would last up to a month . Take antibiotics . In 2011 I had a drainage tube surgically inserted into my right ear which hurt like hell! Perforated my ear drum lol. For sometime my problem was solved at least for the next 6 years no infections I was aware of . No pain no fullness I could mostly hear out of it too . They did tell me however not to get water in my ear . No swimming.
Before I go any further I have a host of other problems I have a auto-immune disorder inflammatory by nature affects my spine hips rib cage etc . Born with asthma , chronic migraines for a decade now , stomach issues . Two of which were a direct result of medications! I live in Canada I really have had a lot of issues with drs over the years . They’ve caused me a lot of unnecessary harm by ignoring warning signs , neglect ,if I wasn’t so sick for so long I would have done something about it but I didn’t have help or the health to take them on. Now back to my ear. In 2017 I was listening/watching YouTube with big set of headphones on. I fell asleep . When I awoke I went to remove the headphones and they had created suction around my ears it was summer it was hot I was sweaty . So I yanked them off and the suction pulled on the tube inside my ear I felt a very deep sharp pain and so it began . Then my ear became itchy deep inside . So I scratched it with my pinky finger lol. Shortly there after I was hit with my first bout of vertigo and it was borderline severe vertigo nausea etc . Of course my wife at the time thought it was something more sinister . Took me to hospital they said I Ménière’s disease . All she had to base this on was vertigo past ear infections . Okay. It lasted a week or so she gave me some medication that only makes me sleep . I have enough meds that knock me out it does nothing to help my balance nor do the exercises I tried . I continued getting vertigo for 3 years on & off lasting as long as 3 months at a time . Pure torture ! Stumbling down the street everyone thinks you’re drunk I’ve fallen god knows how many times . My wife eventually left me for someone else can’t imagine why . And she was a nurse imagine that 🤦🏻‍♂️ Also had to watch my mother die from cancer over this period and my grandpa and my grandma and my uncle robbed us all of our inheritance. Both my uncle & lawyer should be in prison but again due to my health issues I couldn’t do anything about it . I’ve lost my job years before I have nothing lost everything living on the edge it’s ruined my life ! My wife also became a drug addict during this time she had her own problems. So my life was beyond difficult! When she left she took the car driving was easy with moderate vertigo walking is extremely difficult and impossible at times ! So getting around to drs when dealing with flare up of vertigo or arthritis or whatever is impossible now !

I don’t know specifically when the robotic metallic sounds began but it’s been a few years now. My ear is full constant ringing also sounds like a pulsating noise , lots of distortion very very noisy at all times during flare up ! I feel completely deaf on that side despite hearing tests saying otherwise in the past but they checked me when my ear was clear . All voices from tv ,people , my cats sound like robots lol. My balance is off I’m currently on my second week of vertigo /metallic noise . I went to the ENT specialist who inserted the tube told him my story of the head phones the itchiness followed by all the vertigo etc he looked inside says it’s fine sends me on my way 🤦🏻‍♂️ . This was few years ago I haven’t spoke to a dr about it since ,we’ll barely . I just get my regular meds and leave I don’t wanna be there anymore haven’t checked my BP in years it was high then lol. Dr knows they don’t even think to check it neglect at its finest ! I literally gave up. I’m so sick of them ! They don’t want anything that disrupts there precious routine if they can’t figure it out with their routine check ups then I must be imagining it ?!?! I honestly just can’t wait to be done with life . I can’t live my life like this I have no help no way to defend myself anymore it’s overwhelmingly frustrating & hopeless !! Its such a chore just to look after myself let alone bending down for my cats just the simple things everyone takes for granted .
When I do feel good the last thing I wanna do is deal with the things that make me miserable ! I have no doubt the tube is at the root of my problem atleast initially but now who knows … Removing it might make me worse . Will I get acute ear infections again?! Nobody to ask I dunno …

I had some antibiotics sitting around so I’m taking them to see if it helps . Maybe it’s an ear infection. Not all infections present pain which is something I never knew no dr ever told me this I just discovered this a few days ago . I’ve always had acute infections in the past which are very painful ! It’s an antibiotic they’ve prescribed in the past for ear infections this was for a potential dental infection I didn’t end up needing. I haven’t had antibiotics in a couple years so we’ll see . Anyone been thru what I’ve been thru ?
HELP ME PLEASE!!! 😞
Thank you & good look to all of you.

Hello, so I posted back in 2019.
Just an update, I think I know the cause and the cure. Well it’s worked for me. Its been 3 years since the last attack. And they were more frequent, it was scary! I was terrified the sound would stay robotic!
the cause mucus (snot) builds up at the back of the ear drum. The only way to drain it is to drag by holding a nostril closed and sniffing from the back of your nose to your throat. Then spit out into tissue One at s time. Then give your nose a good blow. Keeping this clear has worked for me! I do this once - daily.

PrueH · 31/01/2024 18:54

Just wanted to send you a huge thank you for your solution....so simple/

Hey paul If you could explain better how to remove the snot from the eardrum. I am having the same issue robotic sounds and the gp did say I had mucus built up in the back of my left ear. I would appreciate a reply if you see this as its driving me mad.

Nicky I quite agree with you. I find it really irritating when people especially girls and young women talk like Darleks. It is nothing to do with your hearing. I believe they are trying to talk posh very badly! Not all girls talk like this. Some UK girls and boys used to talk like Australians, probably from the soaps shown over here. This way of talking probably came from watching American programs where the girls try to talk posh very badly.
