Anyone know anything about rosacea?

Since having my dd 3 years ago the skin on my nose has been red all the time. The rest of my skin is in reasonable condition and I've never really suffered with spots or greasy skin or anything like that. However, this red nose is really getting me down. It's red and shiny and I have to wear foundation and powder all the time to cover it up. My dsis mentioned the other day that maybe it could be rosacea. Does anyone know wnything about this and whether it can be cured or helped? I feel a bit embarassed going to the dr about it and feel like I'm wasting an appointment. If there was something I could get over the counter I'd do it like a shot.

Try a dermatologist or such like, there are treatments that can help, IPL or topical creams. Do you get break outs as well?

Your Dr won't mind, you should go. My GP prescribed me some longterm antibiotics which made a difference. Unfortunately I couldn't cope with the thrush so stuck with the red nose! Might be better for you though, good luck!

Topsi what do you mean by breakouts? I do get a lot of tiny white spots on my nose most of the time but they are easily squeezed and then they go straight away. I do tend to get a cluster of spots around the same time very month in the same place.

Just wondering if it was just broken blood vessels but prob is rosacea if you are having break outs as well. Get it treated asap as if left rosacea can get worse.

I have acne rosacea since having my second child. GP put me on oxytetracycline which I've now been taking for not far off 2 years...but it works and if ever I try to wean myself off them (usually because I can't be bothered to keep going to the docs to get a new presciption!) my skin gets terrible! So I'm sticking with it for as long as it takes! Forever probably! By the way, my skin definitely got a lot better when in january and February this year I did a no alcohol de-tox thingy...I should do it again really! Alcohol definitely seems to make rosacea worse.

I'm still not certain it is what I have. I don't have acne definitely. I get a few small whitehead spots on my nose (the only red area) most days but as soon as I squeeze them they are no longer visible. The rest of my face is mainly clear. I don't have any broken veins or anything like that. It's just a bright red, shiny nose!! My dh lovingly calls me Rudolph!!
