No personal experience I'm afraid. DH used the gum years ago, but would only have a piece when the craving got really, really bad (so only 1-2 pieces a day). He used Chup-a-chup lollies for the 'hand to mouth' thingy.

He's not smoked now for 8 years. Good luck!

You don't have to wear the patches at night, then you won't nightmares. The inhalators are good.

Have tried not using the patches at night but still suffer nightmares, need to break habit completely and convince myself that I really don't want to smoke!!

Im planning to start ttc soon with a known donor and I am trying to get my body into as good a shape as possible. I am trying to do all I can to conceive as quickly as possible. I am 4 days free of alcohol, 3 days free from smoking and have cut my caffine intake down dramatically, 1 cup every 2 days rather than 4 or 5 a day. My body doesn't know what has hit it but im just focussing on the end result!

Cold turkey on smoking and alcohol and cutting down on caffine dramatically. Its been less than a week and its very hard but I just keep thinking that i need to be as fertile as possible as concieving with a donor carries loads of its own problems and taking ages to conceive will make things harder.

Very best of luck to you Thinking

My DH went to bed for a weekend and ate only fruit and drank fresh juice and water (it totally detoxes you) you'll feel crap (hence the bed) but THEN great wth no cravings

The day times are fine, im keeping myself busy! its times like now in the evenings when the cravings really kick in. Im sticking to it though its all for a good reason.

I gave up cold turkey just over 6 months ago. I think it is the best way tbh as you get cravings then get over them, get the mouth ulcers (not everyone but I did) then get over them and then you will never go back as you don't want to go through it again. It was alot easier than I thought. I stopped at the same time as a friend who used nicotine replacement products but ended up getting addicted to them and they were costing her as much as the fags. She now smokes again.

I used to spend the money I was saving each week on something nice such as nice bath stuff or something just for me. I had alot of long baths every night and also exercised alot as it helped burn off the cravings and the frustration. The first fortnight is the hardest I reckon then it gets easier. It is really worth it though.
