MONSTROUS fucking insect bites!

has anyone else got humungous, ridiculous insect bites?

I have two on my lags and three on my back which are just ludicrous, you would have to see them to believe them

two of them - on my legs - sweeled up like tennis balls and had fat yellow blisters, I saw a medic on holiday and got hydrocortisone cream which helped a bit, but that was a week ago and the massive rings of bruising are still there

and today I have woken up with about eight of them all over my back and shoulders

honestly they are huge and scary

anyone else?

yep. I have 6 down one thigh. So itchy. I've been taking anti-histamines and putting lotion on to try to soothe them.

scurryfunge · 04/08/2010 12:57

Yes. I normally don't reacte so badly to insect bites but this year they are awful. Reaaly sore and itchy and swelling the size of saucers. Piriton has helped.

notwavingjustironing · 04/08/2010 12:57

me too. I have bites from the beginning of July which are still itchy and vile.

latrucha · 04/08/2010 12:58

Sounds like horsefly bites to me. Possible? Not much to do about them I'm afraid as far as I know.

Greensleeves · 04/08/2010 16:37

and they ITCH like crazy

Yes me too, I was convinced last night that one was a tic bite and I had Lymes Disease.

The area surrounding the bite is rock hard.

Greensleeves · 04/08/2010 16:40

I am sort of glad others have got them too, IYKWIM

have you ever had ones like it before? I haven't, they are unbelievable!

one of the ones on my leg had a fat yellow blister the size of a marrowfat pea on it, and the surrounding area is still black and purple

I do get bitten, when I was n Florida I was a walking buffet. But I have never had bites like this.

Bunbaker · 04/08/2010 16:46

If it is possible to show them to a pharmacist he/she may advise you to see your GP. OH always reacts badly to bites and these sound horrible.

agedknees · 04/08/2010 17:49

Both my dh and myself have a lovely array of large insect bites all down our legs/feet.

Has taken weeks for the swellings to come down.

Is this some kind of insect revenge thing?

loopylou6 · 04/08/2010 17:52

I read in the paper that loads of big mozzies have flocked britain.

For those with the blisters etc, I suggest going to the GP as you may have an infected bite. Also look for any red tracking down your limbs near the bite area. Mucho sympathy.

Interesting thread, I've got the same problem with dd1. Exactly as you describe, pea sized blisters on them. tbh I've started to worry that she's got shingles as they seem too dramatic to be just insect bites. Piriton and hydracortisone aren't really helping either. We're seeing the Dr tomorrow thankfully so hope they can shed some light.

loopylou6 · 04/08/2010 17:56

I once had one on my leg that looked like a giant egg yolk When it popped, it was like my waters going
