does it hurt?or feel funny?
i cant hear anything out of one ear and gp says i need them syringed(well he said it 6 months ago but i got scared and didnt go back, then i dropped right down in my list of priorities!).ive got to wait till thursday which is fun as cant drive and work is frustrating when you cant hear the customers and they think your being rude.

It only hurts if there is something really big down there! Usually they simply warm some saline and using a big syringe they squirt it into your ear canal until stuff starts to float up. It may take a while if you're totally blocked. Oh, and don't wear anything nice!

Once you're clear, provided your ear drum is healthy you can do a little DIY maintenance. Once a month or so, have a good warm bath and siak your ears for a bit. Then use one of those child medicine syringes and repeat the process the dr will do. It will prob be enough to keep things ok. Good luck!

Ps, the funniest thing will be you'll feel like you have supersonic hearing afterwards!

dd2 had it done a while ago. She had to put warmed olive oil into her ears for a few days before hand to soften the wax up. I don't think the syrigening (sp?) hurt at all, just felt a bit odd. They had a sort of suction thing and there was lots of water involved. Worked though and she's not needed it since
