Hi Choclab very sorry to hear about your mum.

I believe even patients with decompensating liver disease can benefit from stopping drinking with life expectancy gains, also after 6 months abstinence they may qualify for the transplant list.

I realise this is not easy but hopefully there is support on hand and there should be a specialist alchoholic liver disease nurse involved in your mums care.

Good nutrition should also improve your mums condition as vitamin deficiency's may cause complications, so perhaps this is something you could get involved with.

I wish you both well.

Thinking of you and your mum choclab, she is obviously receiving active treatment which is good, although is may all look quite scary.

All you can do is be there for her, as you are currently doing.
