Pain and bleeding after smear test

Had a smear test last Wednesday. Since then I've had period type pain and bleeding on and off most days. I don't remember this happening in previous smear tests but this is the first I've had since my coild was fitted. Should I be worried?

I'm used to pain (chronic back pain and IBS) but this is getting to me now.

buttonmoon, I would be concerned that they had introduced an infection during the smear, its unusual, but not impossible. I would get it checked out if its still bothering you. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Thank you! I guess as mum of 3 I feel like I live at the dr and hate 'bothering' them. You now how you feel they must think 'oh no hot her again!?'

Will ring in the morning though. You've given me a little more confidence!

LOL! Mum of 4 here! and I will be ringing them about my feet this week, the Mrs Ravens who answer the phones recognise my voice, they never ask who I am and just ask which child! It'll throw them completely that this time I want an appt.

Go get yourself checked out, but be prepared they will probably want to do a swab, so make sure you wash your feet

Good luck, hope you're ok

All feet clean here

So if we've got 7 kids between us how come we're the eejits up at nearly 1am? I'm so gonna regret this when ds charges in tommorrow (today) demanding Bob or Pat or Thomas or zzzzzzz

Yep and I've got a mad day tomorrow, trouble is I love the madness and noise in the day, but I crave the silence of the night when I can have an entire thought from beginning to end without being interrupted. Goodnight, mine will be shouting "peppa" if it makes you feel any better

Hi KickArse - if you're on later!

Got an appointment tomorrow am. Still bleeding and painful. The good news is that I had the result back today and everything is normal so the unspoken fear can skulk away again now.

Yay to result! Hope you get on ok, watch out for the Mrs Ravens

buttonmoon - if you are still having bleeding and pain then please go back to your GP.
That needs checking out, as well getting the ok on your cervical screening test.

Went to dr this morning. Washed my feet unnecessarily as he said treatment would be the same whether he looked or not! On 2 kinds of antibiotics (don't even get me started on the presription charges ) and under strict instructions to go back on Monday if things haven't cleared up.

So there we are. Happy days.

Made me laugh though as I went to pick up pills from the pharmacy and she said 'absolutely NO alcohol'. I went 'oh no' and was beginning a minor tantrum when I remembered that I've given it up anyway (2 weeks in) so got a bit . She couldn't stop laughing! Good job I know her quite well!

I hope you told the gp that you'd washed your feet especially too! Why exactly should you be paying for antib's for an infection given to you by the smear nurse?

I think I'd be tempted to put in a claim to the NHS for the price of the prescriptions!

Hope you are feeling better soon :O)

buttonmoon78 · 29/07/2010 17:27

Bleurgh. Don't like these antibiotics. They are making me feel v v sick

KickArseQueen · 29/07/2010 23:19

Thats not good! I hate to mention this, but there isn't an icecubes chance in hell that you're pregnant is there?... The last antib's I was given made me bloat terribly and really upset my stomach, see if you can get some Acidophilus Biffidus, it does help

buttonmoon78 · 29/07/2010 23:37

Not unless my Mirena's failed. Which I know does happen but is unlikely!

No honestly, I'm sure I'm not. It's just these pills - it came on about an hour after taking the first lot this am and now am feeling well kacky again (I only have to take them twice a day thankfully). I'll be fine - just whingeing really!
