just below my first finger (the one you point with, beside your thumb) i have a lump that i can feel under the skin. you cant see it. its very very sore, worse when im opening bottles of lemonade, turning on taps etc

i can waggle it around a bit (although its too sore to do so)

any idea what it could be?

ooh it could be a ganglian (i have no idea if that is the correct term)
my friend had one on her wrist. and it went away after a while

robinia · 23/08/2005 14:10

a ganglion possibly - often caused by a build up of scar tissue. Mum had one that came and went in her wrist, eventually had it operated on.

robinia · 23/08/2005 14:11

snap, starlover

starlover · 23/08/2005 14:11

see here

starlover · 23/08/2005 14:12

i was just going to post and say that it is actually ganglion rather than ganglian

nailpolish · 23/08/2005 14:12

i did injure my hand about 5 years ago, was washing a glass in the sink and just about cut my thumb off. but the scar is about 3cm away from this lumpy sore bit

to get rid of a ganglion you whack it with a heavy book I believe .. old wives tale but seems to work

nailpolish · 23/08/2005 14:16

twig, the thought of the pain of doing that has made me wretch!

its sore all the time, i think mainly because its a part of your hand that is used constantly.

i think it may be a ganglion, thanks to the link from starlover!
