I have just been for a smear. Whilst the doctor was doing it she said for me to keep an eye on some colour pigmentation down below. I said I didnt know I had any. She said to check in the mirror when I get home and regulary check it. So I checked when I got home and it looks like a beauty spot, black and slightly raised. I def have not noticed it before, so its new. Not sure if I should ring back and tell her it is new or just keep an eye on it. What do you think?

I would have thought it would be fine just to regularly check it.........the doctor is aware that you didn't know it was there so knows it may not have been there long. If you're at all worried though I'd pop back and see her for reassurance........that's what they're there for.

I am sorry if this worries you, but it is really important you go back to your normal doctor and get referred to a proper dermatologist.

It might be nothing but you can get melanoma 'down there' and if it were to be that, you would need it seeing to absolutely asap x

Thanks, got dh to check when he got home and said he thinks its always been there but never really thought much of it and presumed I knew it was there. I am quite surprised I have never noticed it and no other docotor has ever mentioned it, as due to various other womens problems ufortunely I have had more than my fair share of examinations there. I have to go back in a few weeks any way for a scan because of some bleeding. So will talk to her then.
