I'm 15 weeks pregnant and visited a friend in hospital Saturday afternoon. Her dc, 6months old has the haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). I wasn't told this until I was in the hospital holding the baby. The dc has been vaccinated against this but has still picked up the strain. Since Sunday morning (yesterday) I've had various symptoms and have been feeling very unwell. Symptoms: diarrhea, very bad headache, exhaustion, sneezing, runny nose, blocked nose, feeling hot and cold, nausea.
I've read on-line that this is a bacterium that can cause the deadly menningistis, pneumonnia etc...I've phoned my GP surgery and someone will phone me back today sometime?!! Starting to panic a bit. Could I have picked up this strain? I know you're immunity is much lower in pregnancy.
