Hi Misdee, I normally like to keep tabs on how Peter is doing, but I can't see any threads lately, So I thought I'd ask myself. Is all OK with his LVAD? Did he get any more shocks from his ICD? TBH I don't know anyone else with an ICD, (not that I know Peter IYKWIM}, so I'm always looking out for any further news. I hope all is well for you and your family.

Me too

Hi

Well, he is doing pretty good. no more shocks from his ICD, and they cant figure out why it happened either. LVAD is working well, he is getting stronger each day. I am now trained on the machine so he cane go for short walks with me and the girls. he went outside the other day for the 1st time in 2months. was great. we sat in the hospital garden just outside the ward.

have had to buy him new clothes to fit with the LVAD, plus his weight is creeping back up which is good as he lost over 25% of his body weight before the LVAD was put in.

So he is doing well.

And how are you doing Misdee? Are you ok? You must be exhausted - emotionally and physically. I don't really know the full story - try to keep up when I see threads, but just wanted to say there's a lot of us thinking about you and hoping you are ok too.

desperate housewive, emotionally i am a wreak tbh, physcially, on days when we go to the hospital i feel drained, on the days i am not i end up feeling guilty, like yesterday, went to get the kids next season clothes, school uniforms, shoes etc, then took the kids to the cinema, it was a normal day out, but felt so guilty doing it.

desperatehousewife · 23/08/2005 10:18

I can't imagine . no amount of us telling you not to feel guilty will help i'm sure....but don't! You are being amazing. And the kids need you - and they need a bit of normality.

best of luck

That's great that he is doing well. Hospital garden today.............pub tommorrow.

I've read before that an ICD can give an unnecessary shock, too bad that Peter had to have one after everything else he has to contend with, it must have been frightening fro him on his own in the bathroom. Lets hope he doesn't recieve anymore, and continues to make such good progress.

I'm really not suprised that you feel so drained, that's so much to cope with, especially with the responsibility of his LVAD when he finally leaves the hospital. Definetly should not feel guilty though, I bet the kids had a great day out. It must be so hard leading two different lives at the moment. I really admire you.

bathroom? he was in his own in his room lol. the shock was nesscery, but they dont know why his heart went haywire. if he had been doing his physio or on the bike it would've been more likely a reason, but he wasnt doing much. fortunatly he was on the bed when it happened.

macwoozy · 23/08/2005 10:44

Oh I see, when you said they couldn't figure it out, I just assumed that you meant they couldn't see an arrythmia. Oh dear, I didn't know his heart went haywire when he was just lying on his bed. Where did I get bathroom from?? I'm going to have to pay more attention to these threads.

he had been to the bathroom to get more bottles, and was relaxing in his room after, maybe thats where.

Davros · 24/08/2005 08:54

I've been wondering too. Noticed the set of TV progs called Life On The List and thought of you, was that the one you said you might be glimpsed on? Its great to hear that Peter seems to be doing OK and you're doing a great job too Misdee. OK, here we go, Don't Feel Guilty! xx

misdee · 24/08/2005 09:11

thats not us, we havent started filming yet. will be starting next month hopefully, the film crew will follow us about for approx 6months, and hopefully peter will get his transplant in that time. will be screened next spring.
