I have those, also on hips and at top of thighs (thigh ones from growing up more than out).

GypsyMoth · 23/07/2010 14:07

yes,i have a few from puberty, interestingly i only have 2 solitary marks from 5 full term pregnancies!!!

do they really appear overnight tho!?

Don't remember, sorry.

Very glad to hear you don't have many from pregnancy, I thought mine meant I had un-stretchy skin and would be tiger-striped all over if I have children

nightcat · 23/07/2010 20:23

Stretch marks can be a symptom of Zn deficiency, seen this in my ds, we now supplement Zn/B6. P
eople worry so much about iron, but overlook other very essential minerals, Zn is vital for growth, skin and brain development, but rarely gets tested.

wastingaway · 23/07/2010 20:25

The skin is basically ripping, so I would have thought it happened quickly.

It's probably snake oil, but that Bio Oil is well thought of.

cyteen · 23/07/2010 20:32

I got loads of these on my bum and thighs during puberty (sudden influx of puppy fat). They really did appear without warning, and stayed red for a few years before fading to a rather lovely silvery colour. I wasn't bothered by them either so didn't make any attempt to help them fade (so actually am being no use at all ).

Weirdly I also only have one or two stretchmarks from my pregnancy.

Remotew · 23/07/2010 20:37

I had similar on my cleavage in my teens, exactly that, like a tiger had clawed me. Completely disappeared now.

LostArt · 23/07/2010 20:42

My breasts looked like they were clawed by a tiger when I hit puberty, too Luckily they faded to silver by the time anybody needed to see them! I've just had a look and my boobs are mark free now.

mizu · 23/07/2010 20:57

I have a few stretch marks from being a teenager and have had 2 babies and no stretch marks from two massive bellies. It is quite normal.

GypsyMoth · 23/07/2010 21:49

oh thanks everyone!!

mind at rest now....might try the bio oil if she gets worried, but she's not really that bothered yet so will leave her to grow!

I have them on the backs of my calves and on the backs and sides of my thighs,i had a really big growth spurt at 15 and they came then, several of my friends got them too.I also got hardly any when pregnant,I thought I would have loads, but no,just a few on my hips that appeared after the baby was born.None at all with DD2.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/07/2010 21:56

Yes DD had some suddenly appear last summer when she shot up. They were like claw marks on her inner thighs and she wore a bikini with shorts style bottoms to cover up. They have completely faded now. She was 12.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 24/07/2010 17:15

I was ravaged in my teens by these - none during pregnancy.

rockbudgie · 26/07/2010 14:41

Poor girl - she has my sympathy.

I'd recommend PhytaOil over Bio Oil any day. It's just a much nicer product and it's all natural which Bio Oil isn't. You can get free samples from their website at the mo too if you want to try it out.

Hopefully she won't get too many more though!

LizRob · 26/07/2010 17:00

Yep, I'm with Rockbudgie- the last thing she wants is a greasy cleavage (therein, I suspect, lies the path to teenage spotty chest), and bio-oil is horribly greasy, imo. Phytaoil is much lighter and is lovely, plus it smells like it could be a nice perfume or lotion, rather than medicinal like the Biooil, thus perhaps avoiding any embarrasment, which, as we all remember, is the predominant emotion of the teenage years.

Hope it helps her, poor love.

rockbudgie · 27/07/2010 10:57

Just saw I forgot to add the link for the free sample - sorry! www.phytacol.com/
