Hi all

Just a quick question, MMR is now recommended at 13 months, however it used to be 12-18 months, any idea why?

Thanks

Do you know when it changed?

The NHS guidance says 13months (timed for when the mothers immunity fades) but this page hasn't been changed since July 2009.

My sister is 12 and in her red book it says 12-18 months. So this was the recommendation in 1997, wondering why it changed.

It's always been 12-18 months, it's now scheduled at 13 months to slot in behind the Hib/Men C booster at 12 months.

You could actually have it at any point between 12 and 18 months, or even have it with the 12 month vaccine (Menitorix) but it is scheduled for 13 months to follow on from the 12 month booster.
