spot on upper gums

My 2 year old ds has had a spot on his upper gums for a few weeks - it seems to change in size from day to day, what can it be? Some molars seem to be coming through at the moment, not sure if that is related.

Is it a sort of black, or brown spot? If so, my dd gets one whenever there is a tooth trying to cut through.

No, it has a yellow head. I am sure it is nothing important, feel bad about posting on here now about it, after seeing threads with more important matters. I apologise.

don't be silly lewislewis! you can post what you like, you have nothing to apologise about

sounds like it COULD be to do with the teeth

cleverclogs · 21/08/2005 22:37

my dd had a similar spot on her gum although it looked very similar to a smal wart (which she had a few of on her hands at the time) i took her to the gp who suggested seeig a dentist but it dissapeared by itself.

I wonder if perhaps it was a fungal infection, not sure but it hasn't come back

if it doubt - CHECK IT OUT!

lewislewis is it on the ridge of gum, where there is not yet a tooth? or is it at the side of his gum above a tooth that is already there? Near the front or back of his mouth?

lewislewis · 22/08/2005 14:54

it is right above a tooth that is already there. Will see what the gp has to say.

It might be an abscess. They don't always cause pain. Is there a hole in the adjacent tooth?

lewislewis · 26/08/2005 20:18

Yes it is an abscess, ds took a fall a few months ago, apparently the tooth which got chipped has been dead since then. Oh well.
