How many days after you stop taking the pill does your period start?

The GP said "within a few days" but roughly how long is it? And does it make a difference to the timing whether you're at the end of a pack or whether you've started the 2nd pack back to back with the 1st and are stopping the 2nd pack halfway through (if that makes sense!)

I ask because I'm trying to time my period properly for our holiday and need to know when to stop taking the pill (combined pill, btw) so that I get my period the week before we go.

Also do you find that your periods last the same length when you're on the pill as they would do naturally?

Good lord!! I'm presuming that is unusual

my period (well, break through bleed) doesnt arrive until after my pill free week, once i've started the next pack. It can last about a week, so i could have taken up around 10 days worth of pills before I am no longer bleeding. this is regardless of whether i have just had one packet or back to back 2 or more.

If i didnt want to have a period, i would continually back to back them until I was no longer on holiday or whatever.
does that make sense?

I take my last pill on Friday & I don't get my 'proper' period until the following Friday. I do get some smears of blood on wiping tho.

Easier is to just take your pill for an extended week, while you are on holiday, then have a break when you get back.

i take my last pill on a monday (10pm)... and it starts sat night / sun am

I take the last pill on a sunday and my period comes on the wednesday
