what do you reckon kidney infection or kidney stone?

iv had bad back pain since tuseday i thought id slept funny as you do so battled on!
went to the docs today and saw the nurse practioner who tested my urine and said there was blood and protien in it and gave me amaxocillin she was going to give me something else espically for bladder infections but as in breastfeeding said i couldnt have it
the pain is agony i cant even walk properley and doing the school run and with a 10 month old isnt fun
so iv been looking online and it seems that have the syptoms of a kidney stone
what do you think?

Very hard to tell. Kidney stone typically gives a spasmodic pain which is severe and radiates down to the labia. May be associated with nausea and vomiting. Styrightforward stones will not be associated with a temperature but will tend to give blood in the urine. Most will be seen ona simple x-ray.

Urinary tract infection the pain tends to be most constant dull achey and localised to the back/loin. Blood and protein common in urine. May have temperature.

To complicate things can have a stone and UTI.

With back pain and blood in the urine you should see a doctor and not the nurse. I would go back tomorrow. UTIs don't usually give agonising back pain. Differentiating kidney pain form musculoskeletal pain is easy. Moving hurts with m/s pain. Kidney stone pain is the same whatever you do. Good luck !

well i havnt got a temp of sickness
ill prob give it till monday for the anitbiotics to kick in and if the pain is still bad ill go back to the gp
but im walking like a old woman!!!
