How to treat ulcer

Overnight, an ulcer has appeared at the back of my tongue making it difficult for me to speak and nearly impossible to eat anything that needs to be chewed.

Can anyone recommend anything which will cure it fast please?

Salt water mouthwash every couple of hours.

Thanks, DH came home with some bonjela and that seems to help a bit.
