Implanon (again). Bleeding for nearly 2 months.

I had it put in on April 27th and had no bleeding until May 19th and it hasn't stopped since. It was really heavy at the beginning but has got lighter then heavier again and right now is light but never actually stopped. I've read and heard loads of things saying it can take 3mth to settle down so I keep putting off going back to the GP. Should I go back or leave it a few more weeks?

If you can tolerate it, give it the full 3m to 'settle in'. If not, speak to your GP or FPC as using the pill in addition can help calm it down. You may also be advised to have some swabs to exclude infection, causing irregular bleeding.

I had it a while back.
I bled for 6 weeks straight, then pretty much bled for 2 weeks of every 4 after that for months.
Had it taken out after 8 months of that!

My SIL has it and hasnt bled at all on it for about 6 years now

at your SIL. Most people i know who've had it have had no bleeding either.

Thanks Emma, my GP said if the bleeding was bad that he would also prescribe the pill so i'll wait a few more weeks then go back and see him

I didn't bleed for about six months on it then had about 6 weeks of light bleeding, then nothing for a few more months then about another 4 weeks of light bleeding. Since then ( about 18 months ago) I've had no bleeding at all. It seems to finally have settled down!

How weird that after I started this thread the bleeding has stopped . It's been 2 full days now
