Is this the right place to talk about coils? Couldn't find a contraception thread on mumsnet.
Anyway, anyone got any experience of them good and bad?

Bad. All bad.

Search for 'mirena coil' and you will get a lot of response.

All good from me!! Loved it!

Had mine out last week, feeling a bit up and down, but the constantly bloated feeling I had on Mirena is going. My breasts don't feel like they're about to explode either, which is a bonus. I also put on weight and lost hair on Mirena - I've never got on with the pill though, so I think I'm just intolerant to hormonal contraception.

Had the copper coil in instead, the whole procedure was quick and painless - was pleasantly surprised. Fingers crossed this suits, as it's my last hope!! HTH

I put on lots of weight with it and lost hair. But it did improve PMT overall.

I swapped it for the copper coil in Feb, but haven't managed to shift any weight. Grr!

Only good. Best contraception I've ever used.

expatinscotland · 14/07/2010 16:43

Horrible! Spotty skin, constant bleeding, NO sex drive, exacerbated my PND.

Oh, I didn't get pregnant, though.

feetheart · 14/07/2010 16:55

Good here too.
Had it put in 10mths ago after reasonable success with Implanon inplant. Spotting on and off for 6 mths around 'period time', nothing since and no other symptoms at all.
As I'm an old fogey I can have it in for 7 years - hurrah

wfrances · 15/07/2010 08:31

great for me ,after 2 months periods practically stopped.

differentnameforthis · 15/07/2010 08:45

Bad, Very bad.

Had it out 2 months after placement. Mainly because of an infection. But also because of, among other things, depression that I had never had before.

Furball · 15/07/2010 09:14

LOVE IT! - I'm on my second and have had it for 9 years and not had a period for that long too

dietstartstmoz · 15/07/2010 09:22

I also love my Mirena, had it 14months now and it's great and suits me very well. I still have a small amount of spotting every few weeks but not a period, and have a bit more tummy ache than I did before but that's my only sympton. It's great, If I continue Ok I will def have another.

Eight months of constant bleeding, breast lumps requiring mammograms, multiple ovarian cysts and ironically no libido.
All side-effects which I was unlucky enough to get.

I would suggest reading up carefully about it first.
