Viral conjunctivitis - advice please

I was treated for 3 days for a bacterial infection in my eye but the symptons beacame worse with each change of medication. Finally I was referred to an opthamologist who diagnosed viral conjunctivitis and an allergic reaction. Gradually (far to slowly)my upper eyelid is looking less like a tinned tomato but under my eye I'm carrying enough water in a pouch to irrigate a small garden.
So please, how do I reduce the swelling? Will the antihistamines do it, or is there a homeopathic remedy that can work alongside?
I'm desperate, this is now day 6, its raining & I look ridiculous wearing sunglasses. Without the glasses the glare hurts & quite frankly I will scare young children!
Thanks

If part of your issue is allergic, an antihistamine tablet would surely be beneficial.

The other thing of benefit to general inflammation is a cold compress.

It's worth repeating that viral conjunctivitis is very contagous and you should be taking care to use seperate towels etc to avoid anyoneelse catcing it.

There is no reason o think that homeopathy i more effective than placebo for any condition and no evidence to support their ue in this, or any other, eye condition.
