just been to the walk in centre as i woke yesterday with immense pain in both ears. i could not touch them. as the day wore on they got worse. i could not lye on them last night and every time i fell asleep and turned on one of them i woke with a shock in my ear. i tried eating cereal this morning and simply could not as the chewing and opening of mouth made my ears sore. the nurse said i have a severe infection in both ears and am on antibiotics. my right ear is worse and i feel it throbbing the left side is jus sore. just tried having a rest cus i am so ired but laying down was not a good idea. never had ear infections before so feeling sorry for my self. they itch so bad too. if not improved by tues been told to go back to my usual gp. fingers crossed it goes soon as every step i make hurts

I believe hot water bottles to a temp that you can handle will help relieve some of the pain

If it hurts to lie down, it is probably worth propping yourself up with lots of pillows, so you can sleep sitting up.

I know my mum would heat some kind of oil on cotton wool to wipe in our ears. (when we had infections), although this is what i remember from my child hood, so i could be talking rubbish
