When is the first Labour woman leader going to happen?

I always thought to an extent Rachel Reeves was the brains behind a lot of the Labour campaign philosophy and she would have been a great leader. Have Labour missed an opportunity here? I know Starmer was duly elected as leader but there is maybe something a little non progressive having a white male.middle class leader of the UK. Plenty of women in the cabinet but does it make up for Labour never having a female.leader.

I think when KS steps down, whenever that may be.

I think Rachel Reeves, Angela Rayner, Lisa Nandy to name a few would all be interested. There’s lots of good people in the Labour Party waiting in the wings.

I agree to an extent it seems non progressive but also think it should be on talent alone. I’m glad Labour have the first female chancellor.

I don’t like KS but did vote Labour. Obviously I prefer him to the string of previous Tory PM’s. I’ve been quite impressed with the cabinet and am enjoying having a government that’s actually doing some work.

When those able to vote for a party leader plus the unions vote a woman in.

Having a female Chancellor is more radical in a way. I mean, Labour haven't had one but there have been three previous female Prime Ministers (ok, one of them for about 5 minutes).

Well once Labour identifies what a female is anyone can be a female Prime minister even Eddie Izzard if he ever becomes an MP.......

I think Rachel Reeves will step in once Keir Starmer steps down

but it shall be a while yet

Rachel Reeves being the first female chancellor is a huge accomplishment

Rachel Reeves has no desire to be leader. This is the job she has always wanted.

Impossible to say but there are women currently within the LP who would make good leaders or have qualities that would make them desirable for a leader.

Just got to hope they're still around when KS decides he's finished.
