Anyone watching the 7 way debate? I can’t see a thread on it.

If there is one already, apologies!

Not seen another thread...listening with half an ear...

WinterMorn · 13/06/2024 20:41

It feels like people are tiring of this already…it’s going to be a long 3 weeks yet!

I'm watching! Also couldn't find a thread.

DizzyDandilion · 13/06/2024 20:43

A lot of talk on Wes Streeting. Would like him on a debate.

DizzyDandilion · 13/06/2024 20:44

Another thread on chat...

DizzyDandilion · 13/06/2024 20:48

Not much on it! Like here!

WinterMorn · 13/06/2024 20:48

Nor me! Anyway, this seems to be less shouty than last weeks.

I have no intention of voting Reform, but Farage does tend to do well in these debates

Yes.

I agree they are being a little more functional here.

I think with a bigger group they can all agree everything is a mess. TBH they sound like they all agree with each other.

JustAGalWhoLovesBooks · 13/06/2024 20:53

He's a good communicator, that's for sure...which is actually quite depressing. I can't believe any of them tbh.

I agree I don’t like his politics, but he’s to the point and plain speaking.

I definitely think that’s is part of the appeal. All of my immediate family are voting Reform and I am genuinely taken aback by one of them doing so.

He’s providing an alternative to the usual parties and messages.

I think many people don’t really want to vote labour for a variety reasons - that’s an alternative. And I think he has a place in people’s mind as someone who understands people’s concerns.

WinterMorn · 13/06/2024 21:00

Honestly, I am so despondent about it all.

Recording as i intended to fast forward the crap adverts and some of the crap by most of those at the podium

BIossomtoes · 13/06/2024 21:02

I just wish they weren’t all so shouty.

WinterMorn · 13/06/2024 21:07

I think Daisy Cooper is holding her own, and she is vastly preferable to Ed Davey.

Nigel Farage comes across so well because he is answering directly and he is not idealogical. All the other parties have left the door wide open for him by refusing to face the facts.

I wish he had some competition from other viewpoints that were also grounded in reality.

I think it’s possible to be objective and fact based and come to differing conclusions about the best forward.

WinterMorn · 13/06/2024 21:14

I did like AR’s dig about the SNP and referendums

Farage seems to answer well because he only has one point to make. He's had decades to perfect it.

I hate how he pretends to understand how average people feel. He's pure rich boy elite but they won't let him play with them.

WinterMorn · 13/06/2024 21:54

We need more ‘ordinary’ people in politics, that’s for sure

DizzyDandilion · 13/06/2024 21:55

I prefer to listen to Angela than Penny...

DizzyDandilion · 13/06/2024 21:56

Penny has lost it!

But he is very effective. It looks like Reform will overtake in percentage terms at least, the Conservative Party. He isn’t worried about Labour. He’s come to take his trophy and take the Tories down. I did laugh when Braverman said she would welcome him the Party. His point is that it’s his to take over and not on invitation
