How's the campaigning going in your area?

I've only had Sinn Fein call so far. They failed on both issues I brought up, so I won't be getting my vote. Not that they'll miss it, I haven't voted for them this century and they know it.😆

The only posters on lamposts round here are PBP. It all seems pretty quiet.

We’ve had both SDLP and Alliance call in recent days - impressed by each party but ultimately it will likely be Claire Hanna who gets my vote. Despite the issues + failings of the SDLP in recent years on an individual level she is an incredible MP who I still whole heartedly support

TooBigForMyBoots · 13/06/2024 19:05

My SDLP candidate is Paul Doherty, he's brilliant here and I was very impressed with the council candidate who canvassed a couple of years ago. They haven't called or leafletted me yet.

DH had Alliance to the door yesterday evening. Posters are mostly Alliance and Alex Easton (independent unionist).

I pretty much always vote Alliance so will be hoping Stephen Farry keeps his seat.

I used to live in Belfast South @stressedespresso , always liked Claire Hanna.

You must live in my area. Those are the only posters I've seen up so far and reluctant to vote for either for various reasons. I don't know, I feel politically homeless these days.

There's never many good options in NI. Thankfully I've always been happy with Alliance, as much as anyone can be with any political party.

I disagree. We have good candidates. We have some great candidates. Unfortunately, they, as well as us, get fucked over in the SF-DUP stitch up.

Yes, this 100%. We have some fantastic politicians here in NI who want to work for society as a whole. Unfortunately the ‘keep themmuns out’ attitude when it comes to voting is very much alive and well. As long as sectarianism still exists in politics here there is never going to be any real progress made

100%. For a country that claims to be secular our politics are mired in tribalism based on religion.

No loss - everybody knows that southern Tayto are better 😉 In reality though all including something as random as this in their election broadcast shows is how directionless, irrelevant & tone deaf TUV as a party has become. We have a crumbling health service yet in Jim’s mind smoky bacon crisps are a pressing issue..

TooBigForMyBoots · 14/06/2024 21:04

When he started talking about crisps I was like "paws off our Tayto cheese and onion". How dare Brexit do this to us. But then Jim explained it was smokey bacon and I was relieved.Grin

No offence to smokey bacon lovers.

SF and SDLP posters went up at the weekend.

Got a People Before Profit flyer. There's a lot in it about Gaza. My area has a lot more immigrants than there were last time around. I wonder if they'll make a difference in this election?

I hope so, mine's a safe SF seat.🙄
