U-turn, I turn, she turns, he turns and once the voting is over, anything goes, IMHO.
How many more U turns before the GE by this dull leader who has waiting in the winges our dear friend, none other than the , Angela Rayner!!!

Signs of an extremely weak leader who is being led by media reports rather than whats right for England as he will need billions to do as they say until the next U-turn if they they got elected via the back door with coalition partner/s!!!

Labour ditches plans for £800m pensions tax raid in latest Keir Starmer U-turn

Sir Keir Starmer has confirmed the Labour party's latest U-turn as he called for stability in the UK economy.

Well if he is making a u turn on this how will he fund his ideas....so where will the money come from

Churchview · 11/06/2024 10:54

Having read The Express I strongly suspect that DistinguishedSocialCommentator's posts are their only source of information.

There will be a fully costed manifesto. No-one's going to take any nonsense about financial responsibility from the Tories any more. Truss wouldn't show the OBR her plans, she wanted to borrow even more to fund tax cust for the rich. Her short tenure wrecked my pension (and many others) so we won't be taking anything the Conservatives have to say about managing money seriously.

It's also been pointed out to you that a coalition would be fully legitimate and not at all 'by he back door', and that applying that label is disrespectful to British values and British democracy. Do you believe in democracy?

Also The Express as a reliable source of information? 😂

I never realised quite how stupid my fellow subjects were until 2015 when they suddenly forgot how a process they had grown up with all their fucking life worked.

The only thing any of us can vote for is our local MP. All else is 648/650 -almost 100% frothing

Hello

I've been telling you all that the only way the Labour lot will get into number 10 is via the back door with a coalition partner/s!!

The press has picked up on my observations!!

Read and weep!!

https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/1909149/labour-freedom-of-movement-eu

That isn’t quite the same thing, is it? I read it and wept for your inability to understand what you read.

Yawn.

The manifestos will be put very soon then we can all see what each party has on offer.

StrawberryEater · 11/06/2024 11:53

I absolutely hate the commentary that “u-turns” are a bad thing. If a potential policy is floated and it then becomes clear that it is a bad idea, it is a strength, not a weakness, to say you were wrong and to change direction.

And yes, I feel the same about the Tories being criticised for “u-turns”.

BIossomtoes · 11/06/2024 11:56

It depends why the U turn is made. If it’s because plans have to change for economic reasons that’s legitimate. If it’s made for electoral gain it’s just plain cynical.

Anniegetyourgun · 11/06/2024 11:58

Irrelevant anecdote warning: my mother used to read the Daily Express when it was a broadsheet. They had it delivered daily with the Times and the Financial Times. She gave it up when it went tabloid because, eww, tabloid, but iirc kept the Sunday one as long as it remained the proper size. She used to cut out and save articles that proved Civilisation As We Know It was doomed by (in those days) the hippies and the hairies oh. (Google that last bit. Great song.) When she died dad had a great bonfire of all the bags of cuttings. He loved a good bonfire.

I was very fond of my parents but they did have Issues.

I prefer pragmatism over dogmatism any day.

Practicality over ideology.

No offence, but are you expecting a miracle??

The maniefestos will try to make the beholders look good but as we all know, the are not worth the paper they are written on

If you really want change, then vote for anyone other than the socialist Labour lot, the useless Tory lot, the ones that wont break their promise on uni fees/Libs😂, the ulrea right, the ultra left of the excuse of a party, Reform and even worse the Green jokers

Starmer is currently delivering a masterclass in how to win a general election from the political centre. And win it big time. It’s really quite impressive, and the more the hard left squeal & the Tories despair, the more impressive it becomes.

"masterclass" in being extremely dull and the deptuy/Rayner having a nickname as the real "PM/Leader"??

😂😂😂

Sorry I'm still laughing at the thought of the Express being an acceptable source of anything.
