Will soundbites win again?

I watched the debate last night and then TV this morning and notice some soundbites being parroted. I feel they test them out and then use and reuse. A bit like the message on the side of the Bus for Brexit.

I'm wondering if some people don't watch, listen or read the policies but vote on soundbites repeated by newspapers and TV programmes.

Eg on Jeremy Vine first man rang in and said he is now voting based on something said (that was actually discredited later) he obviously missed the later bit.

Probably. Thatcher imported them from the USA and immediately destroyed any kind of intellectual rigour to politics - she actively discredited anyone who tried to point out that things were not as simple as her soundbites and we've been stuck with them ever since.
