Don't be fooled by the "indpended" enquiry as the leader has the final say

Why has a decision not been given to Ms Abbott??

Diane Abbott: Labour race row probe finished last year

BBC Newsnight learns the MP was given a formal warning despite Labour saying it is still investigating.

My take is with Gauke. He is spot on about the left in Labour. They do prefer opposition.

I find it difficult to be sympathetic to Abbott. Not only did she have a career where she did get to the top, with Corbyn, they both bottled it. She wasn’t up to it. Now she apparently wants pats and validation before retirement; from her leader who has more to gain from distancing himself from her. Purge of the left is a good line if you are attempting to show your party has changed. There is lot of noise about this but not, I note, much effect on the polls. Probably Abbott wanted to leave on a high note. It doesn’t seem that it will happen - the question is why she thought she would.

the latest from Captain Hindsight is that DA has been given her "whip back" and its ongoing

IMO, Labour has decide to remove those MP's the top dread and in their estimation they will gain more votes than they lose.

I've never been a fan of DA, but her treatment is is awful. Angela Rayner spoke out yesterday and will be a massive thorn in the side of Mr Starmer as she has a massive following and this is what labour is trying to stem, just in case they get into number 10 via the backdoor with a coalition setting

There is little difference between the Tories and Labour come the time sticking to their promises. Sadly the Liberals, I would not vite for them if they offered me 10 million sterling as their mother of all U turns is still fresh in my mind

Breaking New - no on tv/radi

Starmers stated and I quote from the radio "Daine is free to stand as a Labour candidate"!!!

I feel the pressure got to them

As I've remarked before, Starmer is just not a very good politician.

Mr flip flop should be his name lol what a farce he is becoming

Odd wording indeed. Hmmmm.

Not for the first time. Almost like it's a feature, not a bug.

Starmer would have been stupid to prevent Abbott from standing, she’s got a majority of over 33,000 which she’d have taken with her as an independent. Better inside and pissing out …

Captain Hindsight is a befitting name IMHO.

Labour leader/right hand people finally saw the light IE every tv/radio interview by any Labour MP was derailed by asking about Ms Abbott, rightly so

The way DA has been and is being treated - I wonder how they will deal with public concerns!!

@DistinguishedSocialCommentator

STOP SAYING LABOUR WILL GET INTO NO 10 'THROUGH THE BACK DOOR'

You've been told/asked so many times not to use this expression because it's factually wrong.

They're very fond of bleating "this is a fact" while ignoring facts that don't fit their narrative.

And inventing other “FACTS”.

Latest news reports are saying that " it looks like Angela Rayner is in charge." Referring to AR's comments yesterday in support of DA

And again.
Did you read my post @DistinguishedSocialCommentator?

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 31/05/2024 20:31

I heard on the tv/BBC news 24 that one of their reporters had spoken to DA re
Starmers comments about her, IE DA can stand a Labour MP in the GE.

DA was prepared to speak "off camera" but not on it and reportedly stated - she will make public comment once it is officially confirmed on Tuesday if she can defineltly stand as a Labour MP

my post at 20-12hrs did not have a link as it was breaking news - I got the story from another source as I could not see it in a link on the BBC

As I said I have no time from Abbott but she has been treated like rubbish. I also have no time for Rayner but credit to her for standing up to Starmer yesterday and we saw the impact of Rayners few words today, lol

Keir Stamer caves in and says Diane Abbott CAN stand as candidate

The Momentum group, which was set up to support former leader Jeremy Corbyn, hailed a 'huge victory' over Labour's current leadership.

I don’t understand your concern tbh. Is it genuine or just shit stirring ?

Indeed. Why the flurry of concern for a woman the mainstream had largely written off as a laughing stock?

Anniegetyourgun · 01/06/2024 15:56

Seems to be a bit of a Mandela effect going on here. Certain commentators are so convinced of Keir Starmer's previous position on the matter that when he denies it they accuse him of a U-turn - from something he never said in the first place.

Did he or did he not when interviewed a few weeks ago state that the probe into DA comments had not been completed??? Then it transpired that the probe had been completed "last year"!!!

Tell me I'm 100% correct
