Many countries already recognise that there is or should be a Palestinian state, one more will not make much difference. The UK is not a world super power.

Well she said that she would recognise Palestine so technically I think she did.

I suppose there is a difference between recognising Palestine and recognising it as a separate state.

So bringing us in to line with Ireland, Spain and Norway? The horror.

Well teachnically you're wrong. She didn't say Labour would recognise "the state of" Palestine, as misquoted in the made up (shock, horror) Daily Fail headline.

The difference between "Palestine" and "the state of Palestine" being just a little bit important to this whole sorry saga.

And yet Labour has categorically ruled OUT a referendum on Scottish independence, regardless of the fact that the Scottish Parliament has voted for one.... ?

As long as Norway, Spain and Ireland recognise it, you are right. What does it matter if piddly of-no-importance UK recognises Palestine.

Of course it's not just Ireland, Norway and Spain. They're just the most recent. The majority of countries in the world recognise Palestine. We are just a bit slow in Europe.

About 150 countries recognise the state of Palestine. It's not really unusual - although it is unusual in Europe.
