Stumped ... What do I do next

I don't know if I am putting this on the right thread.

I have been looking for my birth mother for over 4 years now. I have tried of lots avenues but to no avil.
I did request my adoption file but in not to many words ss have lost it

Because my birth mother surname is very common its like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Is there anyway of getting her date of bith some how?

Wonderd if anybody could give me any advise

i dont have a clue but if you know where she was born can't you find out from the registrar office?
