Would love to do more but we are a small family and only my parents and uncle alive. Also my dad knows nothing of his father as he ran off after the war and it is all a mystery.

Start by asking your parents for info and looking at their birth and marriage certificates which will have more information about your Grandparents, then you need to search for your Grandparents birth/marriage/death and probably order the marriage certificate to get the name of both fathers (your g grandfathers) once you get a person born pre 1911 then you can start looking at the census and go back from there (this is of course only easy if you have a fairly uncommon name - otherwise you will probably have to order birth certificates to check you have the right person).

If you don't have access to Ancestry feel free to email me the info (bubblerock jl2 @ aol.com) and I'll help
