whilst doing my family tree, have come across a couple of addresses, i would like to know if they are still there. have tried internet searches but no luck so thought there may be mumsnetters in these areas that may help.
Morning lane Hackney ,is the road still there and are there any pubs left on it? as my great grandfather lived here around 1901.
153 lower clapton rd hackney, my late dad was born here.
61 foyle rd tottenham, this was my dads family home throughout his childhood.
Also am trying to find st Pauls church in tottenham (c of e, i think) that was there in 1948.
any help would be great as would like to take a trip up to look round those areas but dont want to go if nothing there. thanks

Hi Frazzlede, I live just off Lower Clapton Road and it is still here, as is morning lane. If you go to www.hackney.gov.uk/xp-factsandfigures-history, there is loads of history and archive stuff about Hackney fromt he turn of the century. Its actually a preservation area round here so a lot of the old buildings and history are preserved.
At Hackney Central Library (on mare Street) there is the Hackney museum which would have tons of info for you and they could probably help you out there.
Good luck with your search!

Hi Frazzled, there is a St Paul's church at 60 Park Lane, Tottenham N17 which I assume is hte one you are asking about.

I have a local history book which covers part of Tottenham so I can have a quick look in there for you (will have to be later though)

2 suggestions; Bruce Castle Museum in Tottenham has lots of local history info - the staff are really helpful. You have to make an apppointment to visit but I think you can phone or email any enquiries.

Also, if you post this in the Haringey and Hackney local boards someone might live nearby and be able to help you (although I live in Haringey I'm not near to Tottenham)

but I'm not sure 153 Lower Clapton Rd is still there - the royal mail postcode finder doesn't have it listed
If it is it'll be up the top by Clapton Pond

Can't think of any pubs on Morning Lane though...

DP just informs me that there are two pubs he has frequented on Morning Lane...The Globe and The Duke of Wellington...both just opposite TEscos
Am about to walk up lower claptonrd so will keep an eye out for 153!
