Ancestry upgrade...worth it??

I have a current 1 year Ancestry subscription but there are lots of things that can't be accessed without paying to upgrade.
If you've paid to upgrade was it worth it?
I sometimes use the free access st the Library but would prefer to use my pc at home.... thx!

I'm not sure what you mean. What do you actually have access to? Is it the UK records only?

I have worldwide membership and use it a lot, but it really depends on what sort of research you are doing.

If it's newspaper records you are looking for, BNA offers a one-month subscription for about £14 in which time you can check a lot of things. Or sometimes FMP has a weekend in which you can check military records for free.

As earlier posters have said, there is the Essentials which just covers very basic information, Premium which also includes everything they have in the UK and then Worldwide which covers everything they have in different countries.

I have the Worldwide membership as I have plenty of DNA matches who currently live in the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia etc.

The only other thing that I can think of is that you may be thinking about the "Pro Tools" which costs an extra £7.99 on top of whatever membership you have.

This gives you things like showing how much DNA your matches share with each other (MyHeritage includes something like that for free with their membership).

I thought about maybe trying that for a month or two but I really don't think it's worth the extra.

Thx everyone, looks like I only have the " essentials" and might need to upgrade.
