Advice on which DNA test please.

A relative of mine wants to do a DNA test to find out her genetic (ethnicity & heritage) background including her level of Neanderthal DNA.
She does NOT wish to find relatives or to share her DNA results so others can find her.

Amy recommendations please?

Only 23andme do the Neanderthal thing, at least in an easily accessible way.

Thank you - I had been looking at that as an option for her (Christmas present).
How easy is it to avoid getting involved with the 'family tree' stuff. No interest in that at all and she does not want her dna results to be shared to provide possible connections for other people.

I thought 23andMe had financial problems ?

I mean any organisation which is offering to test your DNA is going to take the results of that and put it into their big data set. So you might be able to go through and say ‘no’ to all the permissions which would be making links with other people and potentially building a family tree but her data will absolutely be shared with an absolutely enormous organisation and those third party organisations linked to it. That’s why they do the testing for so cheap.

Yes - I went with the 23andme option. My sister is very pleased with her present. Will be interesting to see the results
