How to remove connection re NOT THE FATHER

(Didn't know how to word this)
My great aunt had an "illegitimate" son and then got married some years after. It's come up that her husband is the father. I've tried all the editing and help on Ancestry and I just can't get the father/son connection removed so that it just shows the mother as the parent.

Can anyone help please?

How do you mean "it's come up" - do you mean as a hint? Or in someone else's tree?

So the husband didn't adopt the child? Are any of these people alive? The child in particular...

But if the person she married is the father of the child she had before marriage, then he is the father surely? Why do you need to remove the connection?

Have you tried the official Ancestry route to amend @poshcrisps

This is issue with ancestry and similar. They don't distinguish between genetic and emotional parents. This will get worse with embryo transfer, sperm/egg donation and the other various permutations.

Go onto the son’s page and the ‘edit’ drop down menu (top right corner of the page) will give you the option to edit relationships.

It said that on hints but it doesn't work.

I tried again. Not on the edit button but going a different way in to his profile and I got it to work. Thank you :)

Oh I see. It’s automatically assigned him as the father. I hadn’t understood that it does this, apologies.

Glad it worked. I’ve found it’s the quickest way to correct mistakes or update connections.
