Thinking of subscribing to Ancestry but have read that it can be difficult to cancel. Is this true in anyone's experience?

Thank you.

No, the only difficult part is remembering to cancel the damn thing! I put a reminder in my phone calendar for acouple of days before. I also subscribed to the newspaper part, and again reminder and alarm in my phone. All I had to do was go into my account and cancel, super easy to do.

As the pp said, it's no issue to cancel - just as long as you remember to actually do it.

You don't need to wait until the last moment either. You can cancel a few weeks earlier and you still keep your membership up until it runs out.

You don't have to wait until the last minute to cancel. You can cancel it anytime and you retain access until the end of the billing period.

Yes, I know, I cancelled a couple of days before, wouldn't have wanted to cancel earlier. Made the most of my trial, but good to know you can cancel even earlier! 😜

Nope not difficult at all imo, in fact probably one of the most simple sites to cancel I’ve found. Just set yourself a reminder to cancel ☺️

I just cancelled straight away no problems, still got the full trial period. It’s a brilliant site but just so expensive.

No problem and your tree/info stays secure even if you stop paying.

Its pretty common for people to sub to Ancestry for a while, then rotate to one of the other services and then back again as they used to have different resources. I’m not sure how much differences there is these days but when I started I found rotating worthwhile. I have very scattered family lines and found significant variation in sources available for non UK ancestors.
