I'm very new to this so apologies if I'm being dense!
When I search for a person and it says they are in x family trees. If I look at one of these trees how do I see the person I've searched for in relation to the rest of the tree?
As in it brings me up the person with their close relatives but I can't see how they fit into the tree as a whole?
Thanks

If your using the app, then tap into the persons name so that your in their profile, and you will see three dots on the top right hand side, tap the dots and a drop down list will appear...one of the options will say 'view tree' and then your will see the people around then in that tree, and then hopefully you can navigate it from there

Thank you @MamaMode but I'm not using the app I was on the website.
I do have the app on my phone but that's even more confusing 🫣 I can't find how to search on other member trees at all on the app.
Oh there's no hope is there 😬

@Polgara2
Just quickly logged into mine on the website so I could to explain to you......So....If your in the named persons profile on the website, on the top right hand corner there is a small spanner shaped icon, tap that and then drop down options will appear, select the 'view in tree' option

MamaMode · 07/01/2024 20:39

But @Polgara2 to search other members trees specifically.... tap the three horizontal lines in the top left corner, then in the drop down select 'search' then select the 'public member tree' option....then you are able to type in the name and extra details of the person your are searching for, and then it will show you all trees that have a match to the info you have given

Polgara2 · 07/01/2024 20:39

Ah yes I have done that but that's where it only brings up the immediate family of the person not the whole picture eg the rest of the tree.
So if I want to see where this person fits into someone else's whole tree ?
Sorry! I am grateful for your help, I've been going round in circles with this!

Certain people in the 'named persons' immediate family will have horizontal lines or arrows by their little square/image/name, usually if you tap that then the tree will extend out (if there is more family such as siblings or offspring attached to them). If a tree is too big, it won't show it all on the page usually. There is some option you can select so that you can see who the 'named person' is in relation to the key person or tree owner, but it's a lot of fiddling around so I managed it by complete accident at some point and never managed it again. You may need to put the question in google 🙏🏽

Aha well I think I did manage it once but then thought I must've imagined it! Never to be found again 🤨
Why is it not easier!
I'll keep searching then thanks for looking @MamaMode

I do it by, clicking on the persons whole tree, then using the tree search button right hand side.

I take it you're looking at a list like the one in the photo below?

If you right click on either the name of the person or the name of the family tree and then choose "Open link in new tab" then you will get a new tab which shows the profile page of that person on that tree.

If you then look in the top right corner you will see a button that says "Tools". If you click on that then the first option you see is "View in tree". If you click on this it will then show you that tree and where that person is in that tree.
