DNA help needed

I know there is someone on here who is a wizard with these things and wonder if she can help.
For background , I have a friend who knew the man who brought them up was not their biological father. They were told their father was the first husband of their mother ( but he was no longer about )
They then did an ancestry expecting to find potential distant family members in the mothers first married name but were getting matches ( half siblings / neices / nephews etc ) from a random surname .
When contacting these people they decided to do a dna test from another source ( a more ' official dna service )
These are the results, they assume it means confirmation of half sibling but the full sibling is also quite high.
If possible please explain.
Thank you.

Conclusions of DNA Sibling Test
Based on the genetic testing results obtained by PCR analysis of STR loci for the Putative Sibling 1, xxxxx and Putative Sibling 2,
xxxxx , the probability of relatedness is as follows:
The probability of relatedness as full siblings is 94.4% as compared to an untested, unrelated random individual. The full sibling index
is 17.09. The likelihood that the individuals are related as full siblings is 17.09 to 1.
The probability of relatedness as half siblings is 99.2% as compared to an untested, unrelated random individual. The half sibling
index is 137.18. The likelihood that the individuals are related as half siblings is 137.18 to 1.

This is very specialist testing beyond what most people doing genealogy would use. I'm not sure how many people here would be able to interpret the results.

Can your friend not contact the company who performed the test to ask them what the results mean?

Thanks for replying . Ancestry more or less put them as half siblings and the area of birth fits it with these potential half siblings are from . The more detailed DNA also suggests the same but as they asked my opinion and knew there was someone who is very up on it in here , thats why I asked . Thanks again.

Half siblings share approx 25% DNA within the parameters of 18-32%.

The website DNA painter allows you to input the number of shared cMs and will show all the possible relationships. You can normally discount some of them based on age of the shared match, e.g. Grandparent etc.

Another option is using WATO but you'll need help with this if this is new to you.
