Help reading occupation

Hello. Can anyone tell me what the first word says? Something RAF. It's the occupation in the 1939 register. I can read the rest fine but can't figure this one word out! Thanks.

Yes I got that bit...I mean the word above shop keeper.

The above one is Waiter R.A.F.

I'm reasonably confident about the letters W - - lir, but no clue about the middle bit.

Is there a larger bit of text you can post to compare letter shapes?

I think it's waiter, but not sure that makes sense paired with RAF. The letters after the w are formed the same as the - ai in unpaid below it, and I think the dot above the word is the cross for the t.

Warden RAF

Thanks for the help everyone! I'm still not 100% though. It's a male late 40s so I'm not sure waiter makes sense. I thought it said warden at first but the more I look at it the harder it is to read 😂

Could be waiter. My relative is a steward in the RAF and, among other things, waits on tables at posh functions in the officers' mess.

I certainly looks like waiter. Too old to be in active service, so was probably a steward of some sort. Whoever completed the form didn't know his official job title.

Is the shopkeeper the same person? Could it be Volunteer RAF?

@PuttingDownRoots yes I think the shopkeeper is the same person as it's between the same lines. It says shop keeper part time.
