I have been doing some research tonight. Just took a break and thought I would find the queen in the records. There she is, Elizabeth A M Windsor, sandwiched between another Elizabeth Windsor born the same month and an Eric Windsor.

Didn't they then double-barrel their surname to become Mountbatten-Windsor when she married Phil?

Not sure, I think she remained windsor but her children were double-barrelled? Who knows. But the Royal Family have their births, marriages and deaths registered just like anyone else. Although I think there are special rules around their wills, they can't be disclosed for a certain period of time.
