Getting a Marriage certificate

How do I get a copy of a Marriage Certificate from the 1880s.
I am not in the UK.
I have registered with GRO but find it all confusing.
Many thanks

In England/Wales?

You can either give them the year and the names of the people - so John BROWN and Gertrude JONES married in Chester in 1880. That's fine if it's unusual names and the marriage is easily found. Or look on Free BMD to find the marriage and note the year, quarter, volume and page number.

What are you struggling with?

I have gone on the Gro website but I can't see the link for getting a copy of a marriage cert from 1873.
I know the area, the quarter, the volume and the page number.
