A good few years ago now I did a lot of research on there, but haven't looked for ages. Today I needed to look for somebody and went on, and now apparently you can't just do a search, you have to create an account.

Is that right, or is there a way of just searching the records?

You do have to sign up with an account now. I don’t think it really makes any difference, though. It’s free. However, if you haven’t used it for a while, you may find some of the features have changed - not necessarily for the better! Still a useful website, though.

I got halfway though it, but it wants to know my date of birth. Seems a bit over the top.

As @Blinkyblonkyblimey said, registering is free. You need to be 13 years old to make an account - which is why they need your DOB.

So just put a fake DOB if you're that concerned.
