Just wondering has anyone come across this surname in the Manchester area ?

Late 1800's +
Salford.
Im not in Britain so I don't know the relevant places to search.

I think it's of German origin.

Use FreeBMD and search on the surname, leave everything else blank including the search area and dates.

There aren't all that many results in the whole of the UK, and some are in Salford.

Also bear in mind that the surname may have been changed or mis-spelled in registers or during transcription so search under variants including Daft as well. Daft is a more common surname, with a few in Salford.
