Why I wrote a book for my grandsons

22 years ago my daughter decided to have nothing more to do with me and I was no longer allowed to see my 2 year old grandson. No reason actually given although she always resented me divorcing her father. She always left the room when he was in one of his "moods". Her father actively taught her to hate me from about the age of 7. Some of it must have stuck. Her first son gave her the chance to punish me. When it first happened I did the usual and became very ill and in fact I had an underlying disability which then decided to surface and I have been housebound with this disability ever since. I have never seen her second son.
About ten years ago I discovered the joys of tracing ancestry so I did a lot of that, very slowly because I was also learning how to use a PC.
Then I wrote a book and self-published. The book is dedicated to my grandsons and is on the Internet and freely available to all on line. I do not intend to make money out of this.
22 years ago when my daughter first cut any ties with me there was no hint that there would quite soon be a way of contacting my descendants long after I am dead. It may be that there are just a lot of twins, shoemakers and musicians but there is one very fascinating line. Everyone has one fascinating line. At least.
I hope many other people will leave books and messages to grandchildren and their children in this new modern way. Then maybe some parents will think twice about behaving the way my abominable daughter has. At first I was crushed but not any more.
