Does anyone have a subscription for Forces War Records website?
I'm looking for more information on my great-grandfather's service in the Boer War. I've got name and a service number and I have found a record for him on this website, but I don't want to pay the fee if it's not going to give me any more useful information.
I'd love copies of the records if they have pdfs/images, and I don't have the dates he served.
Or does anyone have any other ideas on where to look for Boer War records? I've read the records are on Ancestry, but I can't seem to find his record there. I have seen it, or something pertaining to it, there on findmypast, but I don't have a subscription for that so can't actually see it!

TBH, I found that website very unhelpful and expensive for what it is. The records are all on either ancestry or findmypast and you can access them for less money - as well as other records.
Ancestry only carry records of casualties of the Boer war, so you won't find anything there unless he died.
Findmypast have a better collection of Boer war related records. You can get a trial subscription for £1. Or get a nice sole to have a look for you
