How would I search for a relative who lived in Berlin until around 1940? Are there any UK sites that have record from other countries ?
Thanks in advance Smile

Have you tried the Anglo German Family History Society?

There's an english expat forum in Germany - www.toytowngermany.com who may be able to point you in the right direction.

They're usually quite helpful - but make sure you search for any other similar threads first.... Some of these threads might help

There is of course ancestry.de - not sure if you can use that in English though?

Hello,

if you are still looking for help, try this forum

forum.ahnenforschung.net

You can post in English s. b. will translate, there are regional forums
i. e. for Berlin and you'll find experts for everything (emigration, refugees from the holocaust, vital records etc.).

Or perhaps I could try to help? ...

ooh this is really interesting. My great grandmother is German but had a dual national English/French husband and moved to UK before WW2.

We have cousins in Germany who seem to have fallen out with my aunt and my grandfather so these links are great thanks!
