Where do i go to check out a birth cert and marriage cert? Is there a walk in office? Can you check with just a name?

You need proni here There's an office in Belfast you can go into (I don't know about the family side, I used it for property searches/deeds)

I think it's the local council that registers births and marriages.
Most councils should have an office.

You can get a copy of a birth certificate from the local council but I think they only hold the records so far back - you also need the full name of the person I think? And the date of marriage or death or birth?

Thank you. I only have a name and a year.
