How bloody much?! Finally solved my dead in but is there any way that ancestry will have the Scottish birth records etc in the near future?

No, very unlikely indeed IMO.

If you can go to Edinburgh in person you can get access at the record centre itself for something like £15 a day including all searches and results.

Hmmm may have to convince DP he wants a weekend away!
